Friday Motivation: Donnie Burns & Gaynor Fairweather

When you think about Dance Legends there is no way to not mention the people who created the Latin Dancing as we see it now!

Donnie Burns and Gaynor Fairweather:

14 times World Professional Latin American Champion and this record was not broken by anyone else yet!

11 times Champions of the International Championships in Professional Latin American Dance

Donnie and Gaynor were unbeatable at any competition they participated for 15 consecutive years of their competetive dancing career! And this winning streak was added in the Guinness Book of Records.

Also Donnie and Gaynor are Members of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE)

Donnie and Gaynor were always very special and ahead of their time – they were the ones who didn’t settle for what Latin Dancing was offering – they always tried to improve, to change Latin Dancing to add more figures. Many figures we can see now were invented by them. And until now they are the ones who won the most titles and were not possible to beat! Of course all of this achievments didn’t come without hard work! After school Donnie started studying law and sometimes he didn’t have time to train during the day… so he started his training at midnight and stayed until 3-4 a.m.!

This should be very big motivation for all of you. You can do everything you want if you are really willing to sacrifice! Set your goals and don’t stop until you reach them. Just like Donnie and Gaynor did.

Now Donnie and Gaynor are not longer competing but they are great Trainers and Judges – most of the WDC top couples are training with them.

“Always practise hard, keep focused, never let your focus go, you see a dream you go for it, learn how to dance properly, learn how to dance the basic technique because it’s fuel and it’s simple. And only that will give you success. And keep on dancing because it’s a wonderful world!” Gaynor Fairweather
